Alzheimer’s Risk And Polyphenols

Clinical research has shown that vitamin E is the progress of some consequences of Alzheimer’s disease about seven months was reduced rejected by a recent study.

A subsequent study examined vitamin E and selenium can prevent Alzheimer’s or cognitive impairment diseases. During the research and clinical observations of other antioxidants are being planned.

Some studies have taken hormone replacement therapy, NSAIDs (anti-) and antioxidant vitamins, such as promising therapies to prevent or slow show of Alzheimer’s disease, that it is not.

Qi Dai, MD, Ph.D., Professor of Medicine is conducting a study on the causes and prevention of Alzheimer’s disease. Research by grants from the NIH funded. Dai and his research team began suggesting that perhaps other antioxidants called polyphenols may be important to prevent or delay Alzheimer’s disease.

Polyphenols are antioxidant vitamins in foods, often rich in tea, juices and wine. Polyphenols exist primarily hides and skins of fruits and vegetables. Recent studies have shown that the extent of not more than 59 percent and delay age-related decline in cognitive function animal models.

Foods rich polyphenols, the onion, apple, tea, red wine, grape juice, grapes, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, cranberries and certain nuts.
“In addition, confirmed animal studies and cell culture studies that some polyphenols from juices showed more nerve cells affect antioxidant vitamins. Now we are polyphenols,” Dai said.

Second International Conference on Polyphenols and Health at the University of California, Davis campus, adjusted 4 to 7 October 2005, the health effects of polyphenols in a number of researchers and scientists. It gathered participants from all over the world in scientific lectures and discussions about the health effects of polyphenols.

Some results show that there are clear effects of polyphenols as a substitute for measures of the heart. Discussions focused also participates on the biological effects of polyphenols in protective effects against cardiovascular diseases in various tissues, including blood vessels, heart, etc.

There is a clear consensus that antioxidant activity is not directly linked to health effects, but there is a biological marker for the presence of polyphenols, a character that can be mixed with elements of an antioxidant.

Positive effects of the phenolic compounds may have a positive effect on cell signaling and the speakers at the conference. Scientists have identified a clear indication of clinical benefit to human health polyphenols.

Investigations carried out additional clinical trials, monitor the blood of polyphenols, polyphenols, so that the high correlation is a lower risk for Alzheimer’s .
